Saturday Night in His Presence

It was at the end of the Saturday Night Setup that a few of us prayed for certain serious situation. The prayer and ministry time was over and we were in that fellowshipping stage where great talk happens in small groups—and it can only happen like this following an experience in the presence of God. One of the regular participants remarked, “I think about these things to pray about and it’s heavy on me all week, but when I get here—it’s gone. I don’t think about anything except Him.”

I know exactly what she was saying. She put into words what we all feel. When we are together, the time is all about Jesus and pressing in closer to Him. It’s like all the worries, all the cares—all that stuff is laid at the door and we don’t even think about it.

People often attempt to articulate what they feel and the consistent description always has the words, “incredible peace.” That’s what you get in His presence. It’s a touch and a taste of the glory realm being injected into the natural realm. And all we want to do is press in to Him. We want more of you Jesus.

There are many other things we could be doing that would seem religious and right to do, but religious acts become a replacement for His presence—we end up just doing stuff. I perfectly understand Peter when he said, “Lord, it’s wonderful for us to be here! If you want, I’ll make three shelters as memorials—one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” Peter was so incredibly impacted by the presence of God on that mountain that he wanted to do something religious. He would have missed the presence for performing a religious act. The glory presence of God was then revealed to Peter, James, and John and they fell on their faces in that presence with no more thought for doing anything religious. Now it was all about His presence.

Now THAT’s what I’m talking about!
